Evaluation Question 4 part 4

For the last part of the evaluation I have answered it with a scribd document. I feel word was appropriate for this because it enabled me to write in a lot of detail and still make it look presentable. I have answered this part of the question for my evaluation stages.

Evaluation Question 3 part 2

For the second part of this question I asked someone in my target audience what they thought of the final video. The feedback cards in the previous post were from the first time we showed our class the video. We then made the improvements necessary and I asked someone in my target audience to view the video and say what they thought. The feedback I got was positive and I'm really happy with how the final video turned out.

Evaluation question 3 part 1

Here I have answered the question "What have you learned from your audience feedback?" I have shown feedback cards we recieved from teachers and friends and showed how I have made improvements.

Evaluation Question 2

Here I have answered the question "How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts?" I have answered it through analysing the video and ancillary tasks together and shown how they all fit together and meet pop conventions.

Evaluation Question 1 part 2

Here I have answered the same question but for my digipack and poster. I have analysed them in the same way as my music video.

Evaluation Question 1 part 1

I have answered the question "In what ways does your media product, use, develop or challenged former terms and conventions of real media products?" I think I have answered this question well by analysing my music video carefully and finding how it supports or challenges conventions of pop.

Final Poster

This is the final poster promoting the album for the band. I feel it fits the conventions of the pop gnere well amd looks like it would be in a magazine that an 11-16 year old girl would read.

Final Digipack

This is our final digipack which we all edited two pages each on. We decided to do this so that we all had an equal input into it and we could all put our own ideas into the design. I edited the page with the disc on and the thank you page.

Steps of photoshop

This is a powerpoint that I created which shows the steps I used in photoshop to create the final designs for two of the pages in my digipack. The pages are based on my ideas and the ideas of other people in my group.

Plans for digipack

These are plans that I have put together for our digipack and for our poster. The photos are from our photo shoot and we will use the best ones in the pages of the digipack and on the poster. We took individual photos and group ones.

Self Assessment

Video - 10/40. I have given our video 10/40 at this stage because it looks good so far but we need to include more narrative and less shots of lips to make it look more effective. We also need to complete the video and improve the green screen to make it look more realistic.

Digipack - 0/10. I have given the digipack this mark because we have only designed it and have not taken photos for it yet and we have not started making it.

Advert - 0/10. I have given the advert this mark because it is also not completed or designed so we need to take photos and decide what we want the advert to look like.

Todorov's Theory Of Narrative

Todorov suggested that conventional narratives are structured in 5 stages.

1 - A state of equilibrium at the outset - everything is OK and balanced.
2 - A disruption of the equilibrium by some action - something happens to create disorder.
3 - A recognition that there has been a disruption - characters realise that something needs to be changed.
4 - An attempt to repair the disruption - characters try to make everything OK.
5 - A reinstatement of the equilibrium - there is a happy ending.

This applies to the conventions of the pop genre because the songs are usually about a relationship. There is normally a couple at the start and then they break up and in the end they sort everything out and get back together or move on with other people and are happy. This fits in with Todorov's theory as there is disruption then a happy ending.

Todorov's theory also fits in with our narrative. Our narrative starts with a girl walking around school content and then people start talking about her and she ends up being bullied. The girl then stands up to the bullies and they realise that they need to be nice to her and then in the end she stops being bullied and everything is fine again.

O.M.G Puzzle for younger audiences - Merchandise

This is possible merchansdise that we could have for our group. As our target audience is young girls I thought that a puzzle with a photo of the band would be a good option for merchandise.

Group Album Cover Moodboard

These are other girl groups album covers that we can use for inspiration for our digipack. All these covers have bright colours and costumes which are in keeping with the pop genre. The covers also have mostly long shots of the members of the group to show that they are all together as one group rather than individuals. We can use these as inspiration for our digipack and make sure we are including the conventions of the pop genre.
